I have noticed an increased number of posts asking whether Lucky Mobile works outside of Canada.
The answer is No, Lucky Mobile does not have international roaming, so the Lucky Mobile numbers do not work outside of Canada, even in the USA.
This made me think about roaming for Lucky Mobile, and hence this post.
Roaming services should normally be available.
While I lived in various countries in Europe, I always had prepaid services. And I was always able to use my European numbers in North America and Asia, so being a prepaid carrier does not mean you cannot offer roaming services. There is nothing special about "prepaid" over "postpaid" for the roaming services.
In fact, having a prepaid account is even better!
1) If I prepaid, say, $100 before a trip to Japan, as soon as I run out of the prepaid amount of $100, I won't be able to do call/send texts, but the service provider won't lose money as the money had been already paid.
2) On the contrary, if I go on the trip with a postpaid account, I can spend $1,000 while in Japan, and never pay the bill (e.g. I moved to Japan?), so the provider can certainly lose money with the postpaid customers but never lose money with the prepaid customers.
So, being a prepaid service provider is not an excuse for not offering the roaming services. It could be offered as an addon.
Lucky Mobile should really look into this if they want to expand the market. There is no reason Lucky Mobile should only offer services restricted to Canadian territory only.
Hopefully, our forum admins could forward customers' requests for roaming services to the technical support team and upper management for consideration.
Considering that once Covid restrictions lessen in time, more people would like to travel abroad (vacation or visiting relatives, friends), so there is a huge amount of money Lucky Mobile could make by offering a roaming addon. Otherwise, as of now, all customers who travel abroad need to switch to other providers, resulting in a loss for Lucky Mobile.
