Number linked to other services

Has anybody newly activated a sim card with a "new number" and received a phone call immediately after activating to your "new number"?

How is it that Lucky gave me a used number linked to a Shaw/Rogers account ..

Hi there, @river. Welcome to the Lucky Mobile Community, and thanks for your post.

For the majority of phone numbers, phones numbers are not truly unique in the sense that no one has used them before. Phone numbers are kept in pools that belong to each provider - however, numbers can be moved from pool to pool via porting most commonly, or in rarer cases in acquisitions like Rogers and Shaw.

As such in your case, it can be inferred that your number previously belonged to a Rogers customer. They ported out to Lucky Mobile, but later on cancelled their services. Once their account was closed and number added back to the aforementioned pool, it was later given to you once you activated your SIM.

While we understand it's inconvenient and possibly frustrating, it is something outside of our control at Lucky Mobile. Our recommendation would be to reach out to the services that are calling and/or texting you to notify them that, as a privacy concern, your phone number no longer belongs to the account holder in their system.

Let us know if you have any further questions. Best wishes.
