How can I opt out of the text to landline feature?

It looks like Lucky Mobile opts you into a text to landline feature by default. I want to disable this, and have been having difficulty finding a way to do so. Apparently, every time a text is sent to a landline, your account may be charged 20 cents.

If you search online, there are many references to contacting a company named TeleMessage via e-mail to opt out, because they handle the service on behalf of all the major phone carriers.

I've already tried contacting TeleMessage, but they've discontinued e-mail support and have been completely unhelpful.

I've also checked all the options when you log into your account on the Lucky web site, or in the app. There's nothing there to help with my issue.

Is there anyone at Lucky I can contact to help with opting out of text to landline? In other words, can someone at Lucky opt me out?

Hey there @rainbowtrout

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

After a quick search, I've found that other mobility users with the same question have replied STOP to the text message that lets you know it sent the text to a landline. This seems to have worked for them.

Give that a try and keep the Community posted with the results.

Unfortunately, that method doesn't work. At least, not with Lucky Mobile.

I tried replying to the text message (that Text to Landline sends you to confirm your text was sent to a landline) with STOP, and the variations Stop and stop. I also tried CANCEL and UNSUBSCRIBE plus the variations of it. Never received any response, and testing showed nothing had changed.

It amazes me, that it turns out there's no easy way to opt out of this feature.

All that being said: Even though I've sent texts to a landline (once unintentionally and once to test), I checked the most recent monthly top-up to see if there was any additional charge for this.

Fortunately, there wasn't. So, as much as it bothers me that I can't opt out, at least it appears I won't have to worry about extra charges.
