Dollarama $20 deal - bar code not redeemable

I received a nifty bar code and have tried to redeem at two different Dollarama stores, the latest today at Metrotown, Burnaby. I was stuffed both times. The bar code is NOT acceptable as payment for the $20 gift card in Dollarama stores. To make matters very annoying, the customer service people at Dollarama are telling me they have nothing to do with Lucky Mobile at all. 

I believe it is Dollarama's computer system at fault, as the bar code payment option is apparently unavailable after the cards are scanned. (On the handheld scanner exclusively, OMG) In any event if folks are having similar issues they aren't alone, and this dopey issue needs to be fixed before we are a POed army.

My $20 Dollarama gift card is not working 😞

Could you clarify as to how exactly your Dollarama gift card isn't working?

  • Have you not received the link via SMS to redeem the gift card?
  • Is the SMS link not working?
  • Are you unable to redeem your gift card via the link?
  • When trying to use the gift card in-store, is the gift card turning up zero balance?

I am not able to redeem at the cashier.  It says that it is invalid or has zero balance or something.

Could you confirm that you've made sure that the cashier is selecting 'Select Card' instead of 'Gift Card' when completing the transaction on their end?

Yes.  I made sure she clicked on the card option instead of the gift card option

I have been to four different stores asking them to do as you said and yet it doesn't not work. I get the error CVC is wrong I don't know is the pin I received not working or what's wrong but this is outrageous

it has not been resolved. they still don't work

hahaha as if dollarama said that. those $20 gift cards would of had to been purchased and activated through dollarma. So...so would they not be responsible for the card coming up invalid in their system. Lucky mobile cannot activate the funds on their system the card is unique to dollarama.

Hey! I received the 20$ dollarama gift card 2 weeks ago. Went to 2 locations to use it and it never worked. So I decided to chat with an agent and they said it would take 2-3 days to fix it. I got no response so I contacted them again... this time they said it had been fixed so I went to dollarama a third time, still didn't work. It got really frustrating so I called. This time they said it would take 5 days... I got ghosted again. Anyone with a similar experience? What can I do at this point?

This is still happening now. I'm in Winnipeg, MB. What bothers me is that Lucky mobile was already aware of this issue in 2021 and thus far the issue still stands. My question is what has Lucky mobile been doing over the last 3 years. Obviously not fixing a simple issue it seems. Gives the impression they infact do not care about their customers.

I'm still waiting for a resolution to this it's been well over a week. It seems both dollarama and Lucky keep passing the buck on one another. Quite amusing that no one cares.
