Calling the United States

I've read through the info regarding international calling and I don't see the United States listed anywhere except for the US Virgin Islands and the $50/month plan. How does one call a US number using a low-end voice plan, and what is the rate?

Hey there @Vomb

Thanks for your post.

If you have a look at our currently offered rate plans, we offer plans that allow you to call the United States in both 3G speeds and 4G speeds category. Once on the page, look for the mention "& US Calling Plan" to find out which one has the feature (Only valid while being physically in Canada).

* UPDATE* - You've spoken and we've listened, check out International Region – Unlimited Calling to U.S. on International Calling Add-OnsOpens in a new tab or window on LuckyMobile.ca.

Now Lucky Mobile is offering  plans that allow for calls to the US from Canada. The cheapest being the $50/m plan as of 8th of June 2023.However once you are in the US the phone can neither receive calls or make calls as Lucky mobile does not work outside of Canada.

I'm on the $25 plan, and am able to call all of the United States and Canada by installing the free Lucky Mobile Wi-Fi Talk app on my phone. This will give you a secondary phone number. Should work with all plans, though I'm not entirely certain of that. It definitely works on the $25 plan though!

I can't find an app called Lucky Mobile Wi-Fi Talk. Where did you find it?

Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luckymobile.voip&hl=en_CA&gl=US
IOS - https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/lucky-wi-fi-talk-text/id1465809166

It's worth noting that, as the app name itself implies, the Lucky Mobile Wi-Fi Talk & Text app will only work over a Wi-Fi connection, and won't function over cellular data.

Thank you for the link for the Wi-Fi app. It works and is very useful as with a unique second number assigned one can receive and make unlimited calls to Canada and the USA with a Wi-Fi connection.

No where in the help or international plans section is there mentioned plans or rates for cellular calls to the US(except for US Virgin Islands). When you try calling a US number (on the $25/m plan) you get a text message from Luckymobile directing you to their international plans and service plans section but USA is not mentioned there anywhere. I called and talked to representative who told me that it is NOT possible to call on cellular, phone numbers in the USA on the $25 plan(possible on the $50/m plan). There are no rates for calls to US.
She didn't mention the existence of this Wi-Fi app by Luckymobile so only thanks to this post on this community forum was I able to find out about it and make good use of it.

I live in Canada. What service pass do I need to make calls to US.

Hey there @Sharon ,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

To learn more about service passesOpens in a new tab or window check out our article for quick and easy steps on how to get the service passesOpens in a new tab or window that you need.

I have clicked every link in my App and do not have the option to buy a Service Pass. I don't have any currently and need to buy one for minutes so I can Text. Any help is much appreciated

Just want to add a service pass, how do I do that. Please help me out.

Why are Service Passes only available on the app?

I have an older phone (iPhone 5s), and the operating system no longer updates. The one required to use Lucky's mobile app is unavailable to me.  Why am I not able to purchase a Service Pass via My Account online?

This is completely unfair.  I feel like some sort of second tier customer.  Ive been offered extra minutes at a higher rate than what is  available with a Service Pass.  There is absolutely no good reason it can't be available online.

I am not going to update my phone just to use Lucky's mobile app.  And if it gets to the point where I do have to update my phone, I will be switching mobile service providers.

And here we are in 2023, 18 months after your post from 2021, and the stoopid Lucky Web Site is still ambigous on this topic of US Calling.  Region 1 lists US Virgin Islands, but does not say that it includes the US continent.

Honestly, the Lucky web site content is seriously lacking.

There is no way to call a  US number in Lucky mobile. They offer no plans and if you travel to the US your phone will be useless as you can neither make any calls or receive any calls.
Lucky mobile have also discontinued from early 2023 the WiFi calling app. You used to be able to make free calls to the US with that app on a WiFi network.
