I'm currently away from Canada and plan on returning, but I'd still like to pay and top up.

Welcome to the Community.

You would be able to pay when you like when logging on via a web browser when abroad, but will not be able to do so via the My Account app.

After four months without payment, you would need to purchase a new SIM card and be assigned a new phone number.
